Ingredients & Substitutions

  • Ground Meat (Beef or Turkey) : The original recipe calls for ground beef which of course is where you are going to get the classic Big Mac flavor but if you want a leaner option, go with either groud turkey or chicken.
  • Small Tortillas: For the crispiest results, use flour tortillas here; if you prefer corn, go right ahead.
  • Salt and Pepper: Seasoning is essential! Adjust to taste.
  • Cheese (American or Cheddar): The combination of cheeses is slightly unconventional but results in a great funk and the melty factor we all know and love from such—and you can swap out any other melting cheese (American cheese or cheddar) if yours doesn’t happen to come with edam.

For the Sauce:

  • Mayonnaise: Smooth and much needed for the sauce base; Greek yogurt can be a good substitute if you would like something healthier.
  • Yogurt and Sour Cream: It gave it a tangy creaminess with this combo. If you do not have both, use either one of them.
  • Tomato Paste :Even a small dollop imparts flavor and richness. Add ketchup instead (for a little more sweetness).
  • Honey Dijon Mustard: Gives a sweet and tangy punch to the sauce, Can substitute with any mustard
  • Relish: Gives you that iconic Big Mac sweetness; sub chopped pickles
